Add Images to Content
DO NOT USE THIS METHOD IF YOU HAVE THE FULL TEXT EDITOR ON YOUR SITE
Insert Image - Body with Summary Note the two icons, above and below the body field(s), they have a plus sign and an image. You will click on one of these icons to insert the image into your content. If you have a summary section open, place your cursor in the upper body entry section (summary area), where you want the picture inserted, then click on the icon above the summary area.
Body No Summary If you have no summary area open, or you want the image to be in the full article, only, you place your cursor in the lower/only Body entry area and click the lower Image Assist icon. (This is one of the most common mistakes, if your cursor is in the body field and you click on the upper/summary icon, nothing will be inserted.)
Insert Image 1 When you click on the icon, a new window will open, this window may have one or more of the following:
- Selection Box - Choose to see only your images or all images available on your site.
- Upload Button< - Allows you to upload a new image to the site.
- Currently available images.
Select an image, or click on the Upload button. If you click on the Upload Button, the new window will display the image entry screen, (just as if you were entering a new image manually). Once the image entry screen has been entered, you will be taken to the same screen that appears when selecting an existing image.
Insert Image 2 You may enter/change the Title and Description for the image.
- Size: Select the size for the image to be displayed in the article. Usually, you will have the options of Thumbnail (app. 200 x 200) or Preview (app. 400 x 400) on most sites.
- Alignment: Select which side of the page you want the image on, if you select Left or Right, any text following the image will be displayed next to the image.
- Link: Select what you want to happen if the viewer clicks on the image:
- Not a link -- Nothing happens - you will use this for most images.
- Link to image page - will move the viewer to the image page.
- Open in new window - will open the image page in a new window
- Go to URL - will take viewer to some other page.
- Insert Mode: Choose how to insert the image into the article.
- Filter Tag -- You should use this option unless we tell you otherwise.
- HTML Code -- Unless you have a really good reason, do not use this option; it could lead to broken links.
When satisfied, click the insert button. If the window does not close on it's own, close it.
Insert Image 3
You should now see text added to your entry area that looks something like the above. When your page is displayed, the system will read this text and insert the image into the article for you. If you need to change something about how the image was inserted, this entire section needs to be deleted and the image be reinserted. However, if you take a look at what was inserted, you can see what is there and make minor changes on your own to this code (ie. fix a typo). If you decide to change the size of the image, manually, be careful to maintain the same width/height ratio (aspect ratio).
